I was thinking of getting the Moto Maxx (xt1225), but I need a phone with 900mhz UMTS/HSPA support for trips to New Zealand. There seems to be conflicting info about this.
Gsmarena says it supports 900mhz UMTS/HSPA.

Motorola's Brazil website says it does NOT support 900mhz UMTS/HSPA. You have to run it through google translate, so I copy/pasted the info to save you time.
