So in the Note 4 Dev page "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60610290&postcount=173" they have achieved root on KK (4.4.4) by using King Root. Unfortunately due to the status of the locked boot loader on the Note 4, it is only temp and will unroot the phone after a reboot. Has anyone with a Note 3 tried using King Root yet? And if so, do you only have temp root like the N4?

According to idler1984 it seems like this might work on generic 32 bit phones, and hey, the Note 4 is 32 bit. "
*Note 3 is also a 32-bit phone
