Hello,
A small introduction first, I am new to this forum and my Shield Tablet is my first tablet and my first android device, which makes me a bit of a novice.
Going through the forum made me realize that quite a few fellow Shield Tablet owners face the 'Slow and Laggy issue.
I was quite excited to finally get my hands on my tablet since, its not available in my local market. But, by the second day, I found myself quite frustrated of the device lagging, hanging and re-booting on its own repeatedly.
I got in touch with Nvidia regarding this annoyance via e-mail and they were prompt to respond. The adviser suggested the following:
1. Under Developer Options, select Disable HW overlays.
2. Exit all applications instead of tapping the home button
3. Use 3rd party app manager like Clean Master and free memory at-least once a day to keep the device running faster
4. And lastly, install the latest updates.
1 & 3 seemed to have made quite a difference. Over time, I have selected a couple more options under Developer Options and I can say that my device now runs pretty much trouble free.
Following are the other options I have selected:
. Strict mode enabled
. Show all ANRs
I hope it works out for you guys as well.
Cheerz!
